The short version
- ✓New PMP exam launches worldwide in July 2026
- ✓Refreshed PMP learning suite available April 2026
- ✓Heavier emphasis on agile and hybrid delivery
- ✓Domains unchanged: People 42%, Process 50%, Business Environment 8%
The Project Management Institute (PMI) is refreshing the PMP certification. A new PMP learning suite arrives in April 2026, and the updated PMP exam launches worldwide in July 2026. After that date, all candidates test on the new format.
The exam stays organized around three domains — People, Process, and Business Environment — weighted 42%, 50%, and 8% respectively. The bigger shift is in emphasis: agile and hybrid delivery approaches carry more weight than predictive (waterfall) project management, and value delivery is stressed over a narrow focus on scope, schedule, and cost.
If you can certify before the new exam goes live in July 2026, current content-outline-aligned study materials still apply. Candidates testing after the switch should prepare with materials built for the refreshed exam.
